This book explores the different types of weapons used, from muskets and bayonets to artillery and warships. The American Long Rifle was a muzzle loading, long rifle, which very much played the role of a crude sniper’s rifle in the American revolution. This rifle was accurate up to feat, twice that of the more popular muskets. However, the American long rifle was difficult to load, and took time, making each shot more costly.

Since going over this book, I have to say that everything the previous reviewer have to say is pretty close to the mark. This book is one of the most complete reference coverage of weapons used during the American Revolution. I would give it five stars but one element, there is nothing on the Indian weaponry in this by: George C.

Although the book may be a bit technical for the recreational history buff, its in-depth explanations and excellent photographs of weapons of the colonial period are invaluable to collectors and researching historians alike/5.
